Dumfries & Galloway Council

Dumfries & Galloway is one of 32 unitary council areas of Scotland and is located in the western Southern Uplands.

The Brief

Dumfries & Galloway Council is transitioning to a new content management system and wanted to carry out user research on their waste and disposal pages. They asked Telltale to carry out the research and deliver insights that could be applied across the site.

“How can we learn from this project and apply findings across our site?”

Our Solution

1. Internal stakeholder workshop using Miro to bring together a range of stakeholders and identify key priorities

2. In-depth interviews with usability testing with 10 residents in Dumfries & Galloway (a mix of gender, age, income brackets)

3. A report that combines best practice case studies, a heuristic analysis with UX proof points, and key recommendations

4. An online workshop to share insights and co-create take aways across departments

The Result

Our insights were delivered in a comprehensive report that covered strategy, design, content and usability. These insights were brought to life with videos of user experiences.

A set of tailored UX recommedations were created to be implemented in the development of the new website – drawing from Jakob Nielsen, our past experiences working on other local council websites, and the design systems from GOV.UK
